CHAFFEE -- Philip Benjamin Buchheit, 77, of rural Chaffee, died Thursday, May 4, 1995, at the home of a daughter.
He was born Jan. 18, 1918, in Longtown, the son of Joseph William and Anna Theresa Schott Buchheit. He was married to Dorothy Marie Monkiewicz April 7, 1945, in Baltimore.
Buchheit served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church in Chaffee, belonged to Elks Lodge 1810 in Chaffee and the Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran. He worked as an airplane mechanic for Cape Central Airways.
Survivors include a son, Paul H. Buchheit of Scott City; seven daughters, Phyllis M. Duschell, Anita L. Buchheit and Sandra L. Ressel of Cape Girardeau, Ellen M. Vaught and Karen E. Schlosser of Scott City, Cheryl A. Kester of Wappapello and Laura J. Zimmerman of Chesapeake, Va.; four sisters, Lonita Baer of Old Appleton, Marie Baer of St. Louis, Dora Henneman of Perryville and Theresa Hendrickson of Quincy, Ill.; 19 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by five brothers.
A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Ford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
