EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. -- Phil W. Porter, 67, of East Prairie died Tuesday, July 8, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Jan. 15, 1936, in Coldwater, Miss., son of Homer and Irene Cassell Porter. He and Rosie Strayhorn were married Oct. 15, 1961.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Arbie Agnew of Cairo, Ill., Elmer Agnew of Cape Girardeau, Delmer Agnew of Dixon, Ill., Phillip Porter Jr. of Charleston, Mo., Larry Wheeler of Saginaw, Mich.; two daughters, Kay Lewis of Jackson, Linda Bradley of Sikeston; a brother, Walter Porter of Erie, Pa.; four sisters, Minnie Brown of Florissant, Mo., Alreatha Smith of Barlow, Ky., Vada Strayhorn of Pinhook, Mo., Mary White of Sikeston; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Union Baptist Church in Pinhook after 12 Saturday.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Sylvester Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Charleston.
Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
