MARION, Ill. -- Albert P. "Phil" Asbury, 66, of Marion died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo. He was born July 28, 1934, in Rockwood, Ill., son of Albert Anderson and Thelma Vivian Frazer Asbury. He and Mary Kathleen Mighell were married Nov. 11, 1955, in Randolph County, Ill. MARION, Ill. -- Albert P. "Phil" Asbury, 66, of Marion died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.

He was born July 28, 1934, in Rockwood, Ill., son of Albert Anderson and Thelma Vivian Frazer Asbury. He and Mary Kathleen Mighell were married Nov. 11, 1955, in Randolph County, Ill. He later married Anita Metcalfe Dec. 17, 1976, in Cape Girardeau.

Asbury was a Baptist minister and sold insurance for Old American 27 years. He was a member of Third Baptist Church in Marion.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Patrick Coffman of Rockford; two daughters, Carleta Miller of San Antonio, Texas, Phyllis Dawley of Anna, Ill.; a brother, Danny Asbury of Columbia, Ill.; three sisters, Pat Young of Belleville, Ill., Ethel Hagee of Tulsa, Okla., Esther Orendoff; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. today; and Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home in Marion.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mitchell-Hughes Funeral Home, with the Revs. Clifton Lingle and Jeff Baker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Buncombe, Ill.
