ANNISTON -- Funeral service for Pete McClendon of Anniston will be held at 1 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. Dickey McClendon will officiate, with burial in Anniston Cemetery.
McClendon, 76, died Monday, June 6, 1994, at John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
He was born Feb. 28, 1918, in Graves County, Ky., son of Eura B. and Rebecca Jane White McClendon. He and Elva Justine Williams were married Aug. 14, 1941. She died June 2, 1992.
McClendon was a TV and appliance repairman at Economy Furniture in Charleston for many years. He was a member of Anniston Methodist Church, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include three sons, Ronald McClendon of Cairo, Ill., Terry McClendon of Anniston, Rickey McClendon of Tucson, Ariz.; four daughters, Judith Coffer and Betty Fridell of Charleston, Barbara Key of Mayfield, Ky., Kathryn Groves of Scott City; a brother, Eura McClendon of Bertrand; 12 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
