OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Peggy Shipley, 93, of Maryville, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Collinsville Care Center in Collinsville, Ill.
She was born Oct. 8, 1912, at Cora, Ill., daughter of Harry and Mary Wale McLaughlin. She and Doyle Shipley were married May 27, 1939. He preceded her in death.
Shipley was owner and operator of the Goose Pit Tavern and Motel in Olive Branch more than 30 years. She moved to Maryville in 1993 and was a member of Sterling Baptist Church in Fairview Heights, Ill.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Bridges of Maryville; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Sterling Baptist Church, with the Rev. Randy Loeschen officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights.
