Peggy Lorraine Raines, 76, a resident of Ramsey Creek Village in Scott City, died Thursday, Aug. 27, 2009, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 4, 1933, at Illmo, daughter of Otto Nichlous and Bernice Elizabeth Lambert Leist. She and Vernon Floyd Raines were married Oct. 21, 1954, at Scott City.

Raines was a hairstylist and owned and operated Peggy's Beauty Shop in Illmo. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Charlie Raines of Baltimore; two daughters, Beverly (Bob) Hess of Chesterfield, Mo., MaryBeth (Grant) Cagle of Issaquah, Wash.; a brother, Nick (Judy) Leist of Jackson; two granddaughters, Meghan Raines and Eryn Hess.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine "Sis" Calloway.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
