Peggy Mae Stone, 90, 901 W. Rodney, Cape Girardeau, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at home.
She was born Jan. 24, 1908, in Cana, Ky., daughter of John L. and Sarah Hounshell Taylor. She married James H. Stone Oct. 27, 1929. He died in 1977.
She moved to Cape Girardeau from Parma in 1927. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was active in the church for many years. She was a graduate of Cape Business College. She had worked at Rueseler Motor Co., Marquette Cement and Sunny Hill Dairy before becoming a housewife. She was a 50-year member of the church's Young At Hearts Club, Rodney Vista Homemaker's Club where she was a charter member, and White Shrine. She volunteered at First Baptist Church and the Nutrition Center.
Survivors include three sons, Harold Stone and Robert Stone, both of Jackson, and James Stone of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Ed Taylor of St. Louis and Lawrence Taylor of Bryan, Texas; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, brother and sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Owen officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Park.
