SIKESTON -- Pearle Cawthon, 101, of Sikeston died Monday, June 30, 1997, at Hunter Acres Caring Center.
She was born Aug. 6, 1895, in Marion, Ill., daughter of W.S. and Ada Caroline McInturff Robertson. She and Hugh R. Cawthon were married Sept. 30, 1920, at Kennett. He died Oct. 3, 1964.
Cawthon moved to Kennett in 1910. She received a teaching certificate and taught elementary school in Kennett three years.
She later graduated from Brown's Business College in Herrin, Ill. She moved back to Kennett and was a secretary for McKay and Jones Law Firm. She also owned and operated The Gift Box in Kennett for 18 years.
Cawthon was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Kennett.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, including Jean McCord of Sikeston.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers, and a sister.
There is no visitation.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett, with the Rev. Brian Johnson officiating.
