BLOOMFIELD -- Pearl Jane Wortz, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Phoenix. She was born May 30, 1916, at Dexter, daughter of William Thomas and Myrtie Ann Aslin Southerland. She married Ralph Miller, who died in 1968. She later married Harold Wortz, who died in 1981...

BLOOMFIELD -- Pearl Jane Wortz, 83, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Phoenix.

She was born May 30, 1916, at Dexter, daughter of William Thomas and Myrtie Ann Aslin Southerland. She married Ralph Miller, who died in 1968. She later married Harold Wortz, who died in 1981.

Wortz formerly lived in the West Pleasant Valley community near Bloomfield, moving to Phoenix in 1982.

She had worked in food preparation at the John Deere Administration Building in Moline, Ill.

Survivors include three sons, W.L. Miller of Bowling Green, Ky., Ralph Miller of De Soto, Allen Miller of Highland, Ill.; three daughters, Marilyn Jordan of Kingwood, Texas, Linda Miller and Alice King of Phoenix; a sister, Edith Edwards of Auburn, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Dr. Jerry Oakley will officiate. Burial will be in West Pleasant Cemetery.
