Pearl Louise Powderly, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2022, at Life Care Center.
She was born Jan. 13, 1935, in Hecker, Illinois, to Roland and Hilda Weideman Staufenbiel. Pearl and Aloysius Powderly were married April 11, 1953, at Fort Lewis, Washington.
She was a devoted wife to Al for 47 years, and welcomed a large family while passing on her love for music to all. As everyone who ever met Pearl knows, her smile would light up any room and was ever present. She had unwavering passion for her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons, Steve (Candice) Powderly, Tim (Lori) Powderly and Greg (Shelly) Powderly; three daughters, Mary Beth (William) Stoltman, Jennifer (Chip) Weiss and Colleen (Daryl Greaser) Powderly; brother, John (Darlene) Staufenbiel; sister, Beulah (late Don) Blakely; 20 grandchildren, Shawn, Nick, Nathan, Stacie, Brett, Kate, Brian, Grant, Lauren, Jake, Grace, Amelia Carpenter, Tom Stoltman, Jared Weiss, Geoffrey Weiss, Zander Weiss, Aaron Arnzen, Madeleine Arzen, Noah Arnzen and Liam Arnzen; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Pat (Debbie Dennis) Powderly; sisters, Aurelia (Jerry) Hogg, Ethel (Les) Hammel and Anita Oakes; brother, Freddie (Eileen) Staufenbiel; and grandson, Alex Powderly.
Friends may call from 4:30 to 8 p.m., with parish prayers at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 29, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
