MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Pauline Virginia Wood, 90, of Marble Hill, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at the home of a daughter.
She was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Ellington, Mo., daughter of Fred and Viola Katherine Sweeney Counts. She married Paul Edward Wood on June 12, 1938, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death July 5, 2008.
Pauline operated a boarding home in Cape Girardeau and was an ordained minister in the Gospel Assembly Church. She was a charter member of Bethel Assembly of God Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include four sons, Paul E. Wood Jr. of Lady Lake, Fla., Bill Wood of Alvin, Texas, Ron Wood of League City, Texas, Kevin Wood of Steele, Mo.; a daughter, Donna Gardner of Marble Hill; two sisters, Arjana Wolfert of St. Charles, Mo., Bonnie Williams of Roswell, N.M.; a brother, Fred Counts of St. Louis; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Gilder; three brothers; and a sister.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, with the Rev. Don Henson officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
