THEBES, Ill. -- Iris Pauline Jones, 85, of Thebes died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau. She was born July 16, 1926, in Elco, Ill., to Ora Albert and Maggie Provo Robison. She and Fred H. Jones were married Feb. 27, 1949, in Wood River, Ill. He preceded her in death June 11, 1994...

THEBES, Ill. -- Iris Pauline Jones, 85, of Thebes died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 16, 1926, in Elco, Ill., to Ora Albert and Maggie Provo Robison. She and Fred H. Jones were married Feb. 27, 1949, in Wood River, Ill. He preceded her in death June 11, 1994.

Jones was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church. She had been a nurse's aide in Alton, Ill. Pauline played the piano, loved attending church and being with family and friends. She liked to take walks along the creek with her children and grandchildren and loved to tell stories.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Jones and wife Kay of Scott City, Larry Jones and wife Trina of Tamms, Ill.; a daughter, Sandy Schemel and husband Kevin of Perryville, Mo.; two brothers, Hershel Robison of Fagus, Mo., Donald Robison of Cairo, Ill.; 12 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Janet Jones and Marilyn Jacobs; five brothers; a grandson, Joshua Schemel; and a son-in-law, Buddy Wehmeyer.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Diane Blaney officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.

Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
