Funeral Mass for Edna Paula Schnell of Beloit, Kan., was held Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit. The Rev. Henry Baxa officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery.

McDonald-Roberts Funeral Home in Beloit was in charge of arrangements.

Schnell, 80, died Saturday, April 21, 2001, at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit.

She was born Jan. 16, 1921, in Lincoln, Kan., daughter of Adlai Stevenson and Bertha Gorton Hunter. She and James Joseph Schnell were married June 2, 1941, in Salina, Kan.

Schnell had lived in Beloit since 1948. She was an activity therapist at Beloit Youth Center many years. She founded Paula's School of Dance, which later became North Central Kansas Dance Studio, and taught ballet, jazz, tap, and ballroom dancing.

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Ladies Guild.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Christopher Schnell of Cape Girardeau, Michael Schnell of Cody, Wyo.; a daughter, Deborah Schnell of San Jose, N.M.; a brother, John Hunter of San Diego, Calif.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
