Paula Hodge

Paula A. Hodge, 78, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

She was born June 13, 1929, in Ettlingen, Germany, daughter of Franz A. and Zacilia Vogele Kohler. She and Jessie Hodge were married May 26, 1946, in Germany. He died Feb. 24, 1981.

Mrs. Hodge moved here from California in 1972. She and her husband owned and operated The Cockpit, the Cape Girardeau airport restaurant, for over seven years.

She was a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, the Crocheting Ministry at Lynwood Baptist and Order of Eastern Star.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda (Tom) Mahy and two sons, James (Sandy) Hodge and Paul (Patricia) Hodge, all of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Erich Kohler of Karlsruhe, Germany, Josef Kohler of Mulsch, Germany; one sister, Cecelia Frank of Ettlingen, Germany; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Chuck Hodge.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Belcher officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
