ANNA, Ill. — Paul Ray "Pete" Young, 68, of Anna died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1939, in Cairo, Ill., son of Lawrence Martin and Alta Marie Ethridge Young. He and Merrilee Baker were married Dec. 24, 1959.
Young was a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service 32 years in Anna. After retiring in 1994 he and his wife were truck drivers together.
He coached girls softball teams and served on the school board.
Young served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1960.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Cathy Young of Carlinville, Ill., Susan Young-Ederle of Washington, Mo., Martina Young-Montney of Lenexa, Kan.; two sisters, Margaret Appleton and Dorothy Gustafason of Abilene, Texas; a brother, Ralph Young of Waverly, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
Private service and burial will be held this week in Anna City Cemetery.
Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Anna is in charge of arrangements.
