Paul Windeknecht

Paul K. Windeknecht, 81, of Mountain Home, Ark., died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.

He was born Sept. 3, 1928, in Egypt Mills, to Wilson Arno and Lorene Elizabeth Sides Windeknecht. He and Charlotte Sue Bishop were married July 16, 1950, in Cape Girardeau.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict.

Windeknecht was a graduate of the University of Missouri. He was a credit manager, retiring from John Deere Co. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Mountain Home Elks Lodge 1714, enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, woodcarving, basket making, camping, hiking and bike racing. He also enjoyed fishing and was a sports fan.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Windeknecht of the home; two sons, Chris Paul (Pamela) Windeknecht of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Todd (Mary) Windeknecht of Blue Grass, Iowa; a daughter, Tereasa (Warren) Schmidt of Lake Elmo, Minn.; two brothers, Bill (Ruby) Windeknecht of Perkins, Mo., Bob (Mildred) Windeknecht of Scott City; two sisters, Dolores Burnell of Cape Girardeau, Betty Walton of Chaffee, Mo.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Dec. 30 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. James McDonald as celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Andrew's Columbarium.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Episcopal Church or Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
