THEBES, Ill. -- Paul W. Smothers, 78, Thebes Route 1, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1992, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion.
He was born Nov. 17, 1913, in Alamo, Tenn., son of William and Julia Murry Smothers.
Smothers was a member of First Christian Church in Hurst, member of Odd Fellows Lodge, and a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; a son, Paul Smothers of Orlando, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Wilson of Olive Branch, Ludene Chamness of Fairview Heights; a twin sister, Pauline Severson of Roca, Neb.; a brother, Hall Smith of Alamo; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and four great-stepgrandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Chapel in Tamms. The Rev. Richard Hart will officiate, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
