CAIRO, Ill. -- Paul G. Smither, 73, of Cairo died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at his home. He was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Grahamville, Ky., son of Grover and Kattie Ratcliffe Smither. Smither had worked at Burkart Manufacturing and E.L. Bruce in Cairo. Survivors include a sister, Katherine Javoroski of Crystal Falls, Mich.; two brothers, Jesse Smith of Cape Girardeau and James Smither of Jeffersonville, Ind...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Paul G. Smither, 73, of Cairo died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004, at his home.

He was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Grahamville, Ky., son of Grover and Kattie Ratcliffe Smither.

Smither had worked at Burkart Manufacturing and E.L. Bruce in Cairo.

Survivors include a sister, Katherine Javoroski of Crystal Falls, Mich.; two brothers, Jesse Smith of Cape Girardeau and James Smither of Jeffersonville, Ind.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The Rev. Robert D. McCoy will officiate. Private burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds, Ill.
