ORAN, Mo. -- Paul J. Simmons, 78, of Oran, passed away at the family home Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.
Paul was born in St. Louis on Dec. 2, 1934, to the late James Simmons and Minnie Ditterline Simmons Stehr.
He was in the United States Army, serving some time in Germany. Germany was where Paul found his future wife, Hermine Hodl. They were married May 14, 1960, and she survives of the home.
Paul was a finish carpenter, working for Starzinger Cabinetry in Pocohantas. He was a member of the Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran. His two favorite passions were woodworking and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Joe (Twanna) Simmons of Fredericktown, Mo., and John (Shirley) Simmons of Jackson; one daughter, Dr. Connie Simmons of Kirkwood, Mo.; one sister, Virginia Dennis of Chaffee, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, James Simmons, and a sister, Marcella Eldridge.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. A rosary will be said at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley, Mo.
