KELSO, Mo. — Paul Leo Robert, 85, of Kelso passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 9, 1931, in Scott County, the son of Elva Paul and Anna Rosalia Heuring Robert. He married Laura Jean “Lolly” Welter on May 30, 1956.
Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Marquette Cement and then for Procter & Gamble as a storeroom manager.
He was on the P&G credit union board for 18 years.
He served as mayor of Kelso from 1966 to 1975.
He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso.
Survivors include his wife, Lolly; a son, Daryl (Lynda) Robert of Leawood, Kansas; two daughters, Cheryl Ziegler (fiancé Greg Nolan) of Cape Girardeau and Lisa (Chris) Beussink of Gordonville; a brother, Theon “Peck” (Germaine) Robert of Kelso; six grandchildren, Toby (Nicki) Holmes, Courtney Beussink and Jason, Nicholas, Miranda and Madison Robert; and two great-grandchildren, River and Brooks Holmes.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. Joseph Weidenbenner at 10 a.m. today at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Kelso. Burial with full military honors will be in the church cemetery.
