Paul Russell Propst, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2019, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Iron County, Missouri, to Walter M. and Cora M. Russell Propst. He and Marilyn Wachter were married Feb. 3, 1951, at Cape Girardeau.

He was a member of Christ Evangelical Church in Cape Girardeau, was a graduate of Delta High School and served in the Army. He was a Korean War veteran.

He worked at General Electric in Cape Girardeau for 25 years, then at Schott Electric until he retired.

Paul loved to fish, and he was crazy in love with his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Steven (Lisa Parker) Propst of St. Joseph, Missouri; a daughter, Sandra (Jeff) Sneathen of Gordonville; and two grandchildren, Jordan (Leigha Wilkerson) Sneathen and Kaylyn (Jarrett Schwab) Sneathen.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Helen Thompson; and two brothers, Fred and Charles Propst.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Johnson officiating. Entombment will be at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to the recreation department at Missouri Veterans Home, 2400 Veterans Memorial Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
