BENTON -- Paul C. Pattengill, 82, of Benton, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born April 11, 1915, in Sikeston. He was the son of W.C. and Nellie Pray Pattengill. He married Cleta Kirby Dec. 31, 1936, in Sikeston. She preceded him in death...

BENTON -- Paul C. Pattengill, 82, of Benton, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 11, 1915, in Sikeston. He was the son of W.C. and Nellie Pray Pattengill.

He married Cleta Kirby Dec. 31, 1936, in Sikeston. She preceded him in death.

He was retired from Texas Eastern Pipeline and a veteran of the navy in World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton.

He is survived by a son, Gary L. Pattengill of Laguna Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Judith D. Scherer of Scott City, Beverly Johnson of Cape Girardeau and Melissa Schiwitz of McDaniel, Ky.; two brothers, Lawrence Pattengill of St. Louis and Lee Pattengill of Sikeston; six sisters, Alice Hopper of Cape Girardeau, Gladys McCullum of St. Louis, Pauline Brock of Benton, Ruby Hitt of Oak Ridge, Marie Cook of St. Louis and Evelyn Zimmerman of Cape Girardeau, 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Richbourg officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Morley.
