JACKSON, Mo. -- Paul Raymond Myer, 61, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his home in Jackson.

Friends may call today, Sept. 22, from 4-8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. An Elks service will be held at 7, and an American Legion service at 7:30.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 23, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Mr. Myer was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Jackson, son of Joe and Josiphiene Nitsch Myer. He and Carolyn Fluegge were married Oct. 11, 1986. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Judy and Rob Robert of Jackson, Theresa Gill of Cape Girardeau; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Fluegge of Belleville, Ill., Kelly and Liz Fluegge of Jackson; a brother, Dick Myer of Jackson; two sisters, Daisy Koch of Cape Girardeau, Mildred Abbott of Perryville, Mo.; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

Mr. Myer was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1963-65. He worked for the former LaPierre and Sawyer Handle Co., Lenco, and as a custodian at the American Legion Hall.

He attended St. Paul Lutheran Church, was a charter member of Elks Lodge 2652 and was a 30-year member of Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Building Fund, Jackson Elks, or American Legion.
