ANNA, Ill. -- Paul M. 'Pete' Dodd, 80, of Anna, formerly of Dongola, died Friday, April 8, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Dodd was born Feb. 8, 1915, in Dongola, son of Leondas J. and Minnie L. Miller Dodd. He was married Dec. 29, 1944, to Myrtle J. Croft.
Dodd was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Dongola, the Dongola Lodge AF & AM, the Dongola American Legion and Carroll P. Foster Post 3455, and the Union County Country Club.
Dodd was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned a Purple Heart and two bronze stars. He served in World War II and the Korean conflict. Dodd retired as chief correctional officer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and served as Union County sheriff from 1950-51 when he was called to service in Korea.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Bobby Stoltz of Anna; a granddaughter, nieces and nephews.
Dodd was preceded in death by three brothers, a sister and a grandchild.
Friends may call today at 6 p.m. at the Crain Funeral Home in Dongola. The funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Dongola, with the Rev. Donald Poole officiating.
Interment will be in Mount Pisgah Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Carroll P. Foster Post 3455.
