Paul A. Kuntze, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at his home. He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Tilsit, to Theodore and Bertha Sebastian Kuntze. He and Monda Drucilla Gluckhertz were married Aug. 26, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. Kuntze served his country in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, from the landing at Normandy until the end of the war in Europe. He was also proud of his service in the Civilian Conservation Corps...

Paul A. Kuntze, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, at his home.

He was born Oct. 7, 1918, in Tilsit, to Theodore and Bertha Sebastian Kuntze. He and Monda Drucilla Gluckhertz were married Aug. 26, 1950, in Piggott, Ark.

Kuntze served his country in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army during World War II, from the landing at Normandy until the end of the war in Europe. He was also proud of his service in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

He was a self-employed painter. He was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church and was an avid gardener.

Survivors include a son, Richard K. Kuntze and wife Joyce of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Robin L. Peavler of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Paul C. Kuntze and wife Cortney, Alexa N. Peavler and Kara J. Johnson; and a great-grandchild, Katherine E. Kuntze.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dr. Randall P. Kuntze; two brothers, Otto and Lawrence Kuntze.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with military rites conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society.
