PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Paul Walter Kasten, 96, of Perryville died Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
He was born March 25, 1918, in Uniontown, Missouri, son of Charles Karl and Elsa Bultmann Kasten. He and Betty Lou Hoehn were married June 24, 1951. She preceded him in death June 21, 2002.
Paul had been a farmer and worked in the wire shop at the airport. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 133 and former member of Longtown School Board.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly (Larry) Erdmann of Baldwin, Illinois; a son, Wayne (Sherry) Kasten of Perryville; five grandchildren, Clayton (Rachel) Erdmann, Sarah (Brian) Moran, Hannah Wills, Charles and Katherine Kasten; and three great-grandchildren, Benjamin L. and Stephen L. Erdmann and Sydney Moran.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a daughter, LaDonna Wills; a brother, Ernest W. Kasten; and a sister, Elda Mangels.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 6:30 to 8:15 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Friedenberg Hill of Peace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Handrick officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by American Legion Post 133 and Missouri Delta Team.
Memorials are preferred to Immanuel Lutheran Radio Broadcast, Friedenberg Historical Society or Christ Our Savior Lutheran High School in Evansville, Illinois.
