Paul Harold Hope, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, July 21, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born June 10, 1911, at Pocahontas, Mo., son of James Robert and Bertha Thompson Hope. He and Dorothy Ruth Stewart were married July 25, 1938. She died March 28, 1995.
Mr. Hope grew up in Pocahontas, graduated from Jackson High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.
He taught school a short time, worked at Meyer-Albert Wholesale Grocery, managed Cape Grocers Association Warehouse, and was night auditor at Holiday Inn until retiring. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and St. Mark's Masonic Lodge 93 AF&AM more than 50 years.
Mr. Hope is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paula Ruth and James Douglas Badger of Chesterfield, Mo.; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Rebecca Ruth Badger of St. Louis, Elizabeth Ann and Shawn Leven of Chesterfield; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Edward Leven and Allison Hope Leven of Chesterfield.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Kabo Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Renovation Fund.
