COBDEN, Ill. -- Paul Gunn Jr., 74, of Cobden died Friday, Dec. 12, 1997, at Union County Hospital in Anna. He was born Aug. 4, 1923, in Cobden, the son of Paul and Flossie Idell Dillow Gunn. He married Eileen Friese on June 8, 1946, in Jonesboro.
He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and was a retired mechanic with the Illinois Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of World war II and a member of Cobden American Legion Post 259 and Anna American Legion Post 3455.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Kathryn Schimpf of Carbondale and Gloria Calhoun of Buncombe; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a granddaughter and great-granddaughter.
Friends may call at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden after 6 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Ralph Farris and Lee Wollard officiating. Interment with full military honors by the Cobden American Legion and Anna VFW will follow at Cobden Cemetery.
