Paul Conklin, 82, of Jackson died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 14, 1924, in Sigourney, Iowa, son of Rollie and Blanch Broomback Conklin. He and Kathleen Heisdorffer were married Jan. 9, 1948, in Sigourney.

Conklin was employed many years by Natural Gas Pipeline Co., retiring in 1986. He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ and American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau and Jackson Elks Lodge.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Paula Lorenz of Sikeston, Mo., Sharon Beussink, Saundra Guth and Renee Conklin, all of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Danny Conklin of Cape Girardeau, Terry Conklin of Jackson, Steve Conklin of Oak Ridge; two brothers, Glen Conklin of Roanoke, Va., Raymond Conklin of Sigourney; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
