CAIRO, Ill. -- Paul B. Claxton, 88, of Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Cairo, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at his home.

He was born Sept. 28, 1909, in Pulaski, son of John and Leona Claxton. He was married to Helen Vena Dagenhardt, who preceded him in death.

Claxton was an electrician and worked for Robinson Electric and Sullivan Electric in Cairo.

He was a member of the Cairo Masonic Lodge 237 A.F. & A.M., the K.I.M. Shrine Club, the Ainad Shrine Temple and the Cairo Elks Lodge.

Survivors include three sons, Val Claxton of Nashville, Tenn., Mike Claxton of Hazelwood and John Claxton of Pompano Beach; a brother, Charles Claxton; a sister, Rose Nugent of Centralia, Ill.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Friends may call at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The Rev. Kelly Cox will officiate, with burial at the Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
