Patricia Ann "Patty" Spitzmiller, 73, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Dec. 16, 2022, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 7, 1949, in Cape Girardeau to Harold and Dorothy McGuire Voges. She and Tom Spitzmiller were married April 14, 1973, at Emanuel United Church of Christ in Jackson.
Patty worked in the contract sales division of Sears from 1971 to 1979. She then worked several years in customer service at Edgewater Glass. She served as secretary for Southeast Missouri Home Builders Association, coordinating and directing the Home and Garden Show for many years.
As a wife, mom, grandmother, aunt, daughter, sister and cousin, what she loved most was spending time with her family and helping in any capacity she could. She so loved her three grandsons.
Patty loved plants and flowers, filling her home and farm with beauty. As an animal lover, she made sure to surround herself with pets, nature and wildlife. Because of Patty's kind, loving and giving nature, she was fiercely loved by those who met her.
Loving survivors include her husband of 51 years, Tom Spitzmiller of Cape Girardeau; two children, Gretchen (Mitch) Harpster of Jackson and Brandon Spitzmiller of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Owen, Aaron and Henry Harpster of Jackson; and brother, Jim (Gail) Voges of Des Arc, Missouri.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorial contributions are suggested to SEMO Pets, formerly the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri.
