Patty J. Brooks, 88, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at The Villas of Jackson. She was born July 5, 1931, in Blytheville, Arkansas, daughter of Thomas Lydle and Gurie Manley Hawkins Sr. Patty and Dale Penny were married in July 1950. In November 1960, she and Robert Eugene Niblack were married. He passed away in June 1979. She married Don Jerome Brooks on June 6, 1981, and he passed away June 22, 2006...

Patty J. Brooks, 88, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at The Villas of Jackson.

She was born July 5, 1931, in Blytheville, Arkansas, daughter of Thomas Lydle and Gurie Manley Hawkins Sr. Patty and Dale Penny were married in July 1950. In November 1960, she and Robert Eugene Niblack were married. He passed away in June 1979. She married Don Jerome Brooks on June 6, 1981, and he passed away June 22, 2006.

Patty graduated from Perryville (Missouri) High School in 1949. She worked 33 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member and officer of Semo Telephone Employees Credit Union and also held various offices with the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Patty volunteered and served on the board for many years at Jackson Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan. She was a member at New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and was active in many of the church organizations.

Loving survivors include four children, Terry (Joyce) Penny of Jackson, David (Roxie) Penny of Cape Girardeau, Allyn Penny of Hannibal, Missouri, and Cheryl (Terry) Sides of Jackson; and five grandchildren, Ginger Lufcy, Amy Franklin, Jeremy Penny, Julianne Sanning and Ryan Sides.

Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, Paul David Lufcy, Carson Franklin, Olivia and Riley Penny, Ivy Sanning, Cameron Sides, Autumn Sides and Kylie Ann Sides; and a sister Peggie (Don) McAnally.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; her father, Thomas Hawkins Sr.; mother, Gurie Unger; a grandson, Todd Sides; and two brothers, T.L. and George Hawkins.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
