Patsy Jean Collier, 71, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at her home. She was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of William T. and Dorothy E. Gillespie Medcalf. She and Ronald L. Collier were married Jan. 10, 1959. Patsy and her husband owned and operated Sikeston Sanitation Service from 1958 to 1968. ...

Patsy Jean Collier, 71, of Jackson passed away Monday, July 1, 2013, at her home.

She was born Oct. 2, 1941, in Sikeston, Mo., daughter of William T. and Dorothy E. Gillespie Medcalf. She and Ronald L. Collier were married Jan. 10, 1959.

Patsy and her husband owned and operated Sikeston Sanitation Service from 1958 to 1968. She helped pastor the Assembly for the Gospel Church in Rochelle, Ill., and attended home church services with family and friends. She was employed by the Missouri Department of Mental Health, providing a treatment home for foster children. She operated a home day care, and worked for the Missouri Division of Youth Services five years.

Loving survivors include her husband of 53 years; four sons, Bob (Melissa) Collier, Christopher C. (Marilyn) Collier II, Matthew (Amelia) Collier of Jackson and Patrick R. (Monica) Collier of Advance, Mo.; a sister, Billie Jo (Robert) Baker of Stevensville, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Christian Troy-Matthew Collier; a brother, Howard W. Odell; and two half sisters.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time today at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ron McDermott and the Rev. Darren Henderson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
