Patsy Chandler, 68, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born July 5, 1944, in Leopold, Mo., daughter of Ben and Mary Jansen Schreckenberg. She and John Dale Chandler Jr. were united in marriage May 24, 1969, and he preceded her in death April 2, 2001.
She owned and operated Patsy's Beauty Shop and worked as a bookkeeper for Chandler Drug Store. She served as a Girl Scout leader and volunteer for approximately 30 years, and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson.
Patsy will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, her warm smile, her care for others, her calm and quiet demeanor, her love of her family and pets, her passion for travel and dance, and her love of scouting and commitment to sharing the ideals of this tradition with generations of girls.
Survivors include her two daughters, Amy (Eric) Niedbalski of Arnold, Mo., and Donna (Lance) Pry of Jackson; a brother, Joe Schreckenberg of Hillsboro, Mo.; a sister, MaryAnn Maevers of Sikeston, Mo.; grandchildren Chandler and Chase Niedbalski and Elena Pry; six nieces and nephews; 10 great-nieces and -nephews; and three great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Dick Schreckenberg; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Chandler.
Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in the Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
