Patrick W. Neal, 55, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, peacefully departed his earthly home Monday, June 5, 2006, following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness, surrounded by loved ones.

Pat was born July 19, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of James Robert and Yvonne Bienert Neal.

He was a graduate of Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. Before becoming ill Pat had previously been employed at Shivelbine's and most recently Midwest Environmental Studies.

On the Ides of March 1998, Pat and Cindy J. West were united in marriage at Osage Beach, Mo.

Loving survivors include his wife Cindy; a son, Hunter West Neal of the home; four brothers, Michael (Ruth) Neal of Manassas, Va., James (Karen) Neal of Kansas City, Mo., Kevin (Edith) Neal of Cape Girardeau, Shawn Neal of Kansas City; and a sister, Susan (Neal) Pekios of Cape Girardeau. Pat is also survived by his very special nieces and nephews, aunts, an uncle, and an extensive group of lifelong friends he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Jason Neal.

Pat was blessed with a very gentle, kind and giving spirit. He enjoyed being amidst nature, music, and family. Pat cherished countless hours spent with devoted friends who shall greatly miss his marvelous sense of humor. Pat had an immense love for animals with a fondness for feeding and watching birds.

Pat will remain in our hearts forever, always remembered as a dedicated husband and father, loving brother and loyal friend.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

A remembrance service to celebrate Pat's life will start at 7 p.m.
