Patrick Jett

Patrick J. Jett, 66, of Gordonville passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, at his home.

He was born Feb. 25, 1943, in Sandpoint, Idaho, son of Jesse and Lutie Kennedy Jett. He and Carolyn Anthony Kranawetter were married July 13, 1986.

Patrick served two years in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany. He worked 19 years for the former Atlas Plastic Company in Cape Girardeau, seven years in construction at Fru-Con in Cape Girardeau, and owned and operated the former Jett TV Service in Gordonville for 15 years. Most recently he worked for Southeast Missouri State University for 15 years, retiring in 2005 as the master electrician facilities manager.

For 19 years, Patrick was the fire chief for the Gordonville Fire Department, where he volunteered for 27 years. He was the lay pastor for many years at various area United Methodist churches, including Gravel Hill, Mo., Scopus, Mo., Marble Hill, Mo., and Glenallen, Mo., and was also active in teaching Sunday school. He was a member of a country music band for a number of years, playing in nursing homes and for special events.

He was a member of the Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson and longtime member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.

Loving survivors include his wife of 23 years; two daughters, Rose (Steve) Farrow of Cape Girardeau and Sandra Motley of Jackson; a stepson, Kim (Kelly) Kranawetter of Jackson; a stepdaughter, Debbie (Les) Reisenbichler of Jackson; and a sister, Della Dry of Cape Girardeau.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Brandi Farrow, Charlie, Justin and Kaylynn Motley, Kelsey Spears, Lauren Kranawetter, and Jordan, Jerrett and Kylie Reisenbichler.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Jett; and a sister, Laura Marie Stoner.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and Monday after 9:30 a.m. at the Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church in Gordonville, with the Rev. Ann Mowery officiating.

Interment will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery in Gordonville, with full military honors.
