PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Patricia A. Wibbenmeyer, 51, of Perryville passed away Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016, at her beautiful home, surrounded by loving friends and family.
She was born Nov. 9, 1964, in Perryville, daughter of Donald and Dellora Stark Wibbenmeyer of Perryville.
Pat devoted her entire life to educating the children of Perryville Elementary School. She taught first grade for 17 years and then continued her career as a Title 1 reading teacher for the next eight years. Pat was a hard-working professional who put the needs of her students first. Her calm demeanor and caring personality touched the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered by her students and colleagues.
Pat also was well known on the Lady Pirates basketball court. As a high-school senior player, she helped her team make it to the first state championship games in Perryville history! They took home the third-place title for Perryville High School! She later devoted her time as assistant girls' basketball coach for 10 years.
In May 2014, Pat was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She battled this disease for two years, never complaining and with great courage and strength. Despite the challenges she was faced with, Pat continued to go to work every day that she possibly could. She leaves a lasting impression of her great faith and trust in God for all who knew her. Pat was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, PES Prayer Warriors and member and coach of the Perryville Lady Pirates basketball team.
Survivors include her lifelong best friend, Vicki Lohmann; four brothers and three sisters, Brenda (Rick) Tisher and Roger (Barb) Wibbenmeyer, all of Perryville, Bruce (Connie) Wibbenmeyer of Waterloo, Illinois, Rhonda (Dave) Meyr of Perryville, Brian (Patti) Wibbenmeyer of Jackson, Dr. Jane Wibbenmeyer of St. Louis and Christopher (Kim) Wibbenmeyer of Perryville; eight nieces; eight nephews; many great-nieces and -nephews; as well as numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her great-niece, Jaci Meyr, and nephew, Jonathan Taylor.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with a Catholic wake service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue from 6:30 to 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Young and Sons Funeral Home, with rosary at 10 a.m.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred for the Perryville Lady Pirates basketball team, St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness or Southeast Hospice.
