Patricia Anne Horrell, 70, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at her home.
She was born Aug. 2, 1940, in Jackson, Miss., to Thomas L. and Cora L. Gates. She and Fred J. Horrell were married Jan. 19, 1958, in Cairo, Ill.
Pat was active in many things and was always glad to volunteer her time and talents to a good cause. She served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader, president of Jefferson School PTA, Republican committeewoman, manager of Republican campaign headquarters for one election. She also found time to work several jobs (some part time) after her children were grown: Colonial Federal Savings and Loan, The Brown Owl, Whippersnappers, and manager of the Glass Gallery. She was active in her family-owned businesses: Cape Carpet and Supply Co., Horrell Enterprises, Lake Egypt Sales at Lake Egypt in Marion, Ill.
She graduated from Crowley High School in Crowley, La. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and also Cape Bible Chapel.
Pat is survived by her husband, Fred; a daughter, Kimberly Keele-Jasinski (James) of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Fred "Butch" Horrell III (Sheri) of Lake Egypt, Scott Horrell (Karen) of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren, Dustin Keele of Fenton, Mo., Travis Keele of Kansas City, Mo., Jordan Keele of Cape Girardeau, Cameron Horrell, Kristin Horrell and Lainey Horrell of Lake Egypt, Andrea Horrell and Zachary Horrell of Cape Girardeau; and a great-grandchild, Tucker Keele of Cape Girardeau.
Also a sister, Jackie (Larry Joe) Bilbo of Picayune, Miss.; a brother, Thomas L. Gates of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters-in-law, Aurelia Jones of Cape Girardeau, Patricia Raines of Christmas, Fla., Sandy Gates of Jackson, Miss.; very special aunt, Bobbi Gates of Lake Charles, La.; two cousins, Janice (Joey) Redlich of Lake Charles and Bob (Cindy) Gates of Crowley; a lifetime friend she loved as a sister, Judi Naeter of Cape Girardeau; five nieces; and three nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, David F. Gates.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cape Bible Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. James Green officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Dustin Keele, Travis Keele, Jordan Keele, Cameron Horrell, Zachary Horrell and Tim Buerck.
Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Jones Jr., James Jasinski, Steve Naeter, Bruce Channel, Tony Field and Joe Anders.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Southeast Hospice.
