Patricia "Pat" Davenport, 91, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at St. David's South Medical Center in Austin, Texas. Pat had been residing with her son in Austin the past two years.
Pat was born Nov. 19, 1924, in Jackson to DuRee and Lenora Weltecke Masterson. She and James Davenport were married Dec. 29, 1949, at Old Appleton. They had been married 47 years when Jim passed away June 5, 1997.
Pat attended the former Clover Hill Grade School and was a 1941 graduate of Jackson High School.
After her marriage to Jim, Pat cared for her mother many years until she passed away. Her employment included the former Jackson Hosiery Mill; babysitting for children in her home; and the former Joe Gohn Farmers Insurance Agency and Jackson Realty, both in uptown Jackson.
She was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. Many folks will remember Pat as an accomplished seamstress.
Loving survivors include a son, Kirk Davenport of Austin; former son-in-law, Harry (the late Sherry) Phillip of Jackson; a sister, Helen (Joe) Gohn of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Hazel (the late Joe) Masterson of Jackson; a granddaughter, Paige (Jim) Sparks, and children Silas and Sammy of Jackson; three grandsons, Mark (Karina) De La Cruz, and children Mary Alice, Marco and Oscar of Buda, Texas; Darin (Alex) Phillip and son Nicholas of Olathe, Kansas; and Scott Phillip of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; four nieces, Terri (Mike) Tomlin, Karen (Stu) Garrison and Carol (Mike) Keen, all of Jackson, and Cathy Masterson of Dallas; a nephew, Mark (Ruth) Masterson of Jackson; two great-nieces, Erica Masterson and Alisha Turley; four great-nephews, Josh Tomlin, Zachary and Hunter Garrison and Jason Liley; many nieces and nephews on the Davenport side; and several dear neighbors and close friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Lyn Phillip, on Jan. 30, 1991; two brothers, Sam (Thelma and later Audrey) Masterson and Joe Masterson; and a stepgrandson, Brett Phillip.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Masterson, Chug Crites, Jimmy Smith, Josh Tomlin, Stu Garrison and David Retherford. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Sparks and Michael Smith.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson.
