Pastor Arvil Huffman of Advance, Mo., was born October 21, 1917 in Whitewater, Mo., the son o f the late John Wesley Huffman and Carrie Schafer Huffman. He passed away at his home on Sept. 2, 1998 at the age of 80 years. Pastor Huffman was an ordained General Baptist Minister for over 50 years and was a member of Kinder Chapel General Baptist Church near Puxico where he served as pastor until June 28th of this year...

Pastor Arvil Huffman of Advance, Mo., was born October 21, 1917 in Whitewater, Mo., the son o f the late John Wesley Huffman and Carrie Schafer Huffman. He passed away at his home on Sept. 2, 1998 at the age of 80 years.

Pastor Huffman was an ordained General Baptist Minister for over 50 years and was a member of Kinder Chapel General Baptist Church near Puxico where he served as pastor until June 28th of this year.

He began his ministry in 1947 at Barks Chapel General Baptist Church in Crump. Other churches pastored are: Mt. Zion General Baptist Church at Scopus, Fairview General Baptist Church, near Advance, New Hope General Baptist Church, near Advance, Randles General Baptist Church at Randles, Brown General Baptist Church near Puxico, Chaffee General Baptist Church, Chaffee, Mt. Pisqah General Baptist Church, Aquilla, and Kinder Chapel General Baptist Church, Puxico.

Pastor Huffman also served as moderator for the SEMO, Galilee and Old Liberty Associations.

He and Emma Lee Young were united in marriage on Feb. 12, 1944 at Piggott, Ark. and she survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Mike Huffman of Jackson and Rodger Huffman of Benton; three sisters, Beryl Stroder of House Springs, Dorothy Revell and Velma Allen both of Laflin; six grandchildren, Erika Rose of Benton, Matt Huffman of Crump, Wes Huffman of St. Louis, Rob Huffman of Cape Girardeau, April Huffman of Jackson and Nathan Huffman of Benton; and one great-grandson, Dakota Huffman of Crump. A host of other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one grandson.

Visitation will be from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 at the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Mo. Services will be there at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 with the Rev. Bob Bradford and the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will be in Barks Chapel Cemetery, Crump, Mo.
