"When we were growing up, we never had the best house on the block, the best car or the most money, but one thing we had that no one else had was the BEST MOTHER.

"Looking back, we realize we were the richest kids in our neighborhood after all." — Laura, Lisa and Eric

Pansy Joyce Wilson Snowden passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2020.

Born July 3, 1933, to Ray and Helen Hurley Wilson, Pansy graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School, where she made lifelong friendships with a group of girlfriends who called themselves "The Sacred 8 1/2." They traveled to many locations over the years and enjoyed each others' company until the end.

P.J. married Bill Faris, and they had three children.

She worked as a Realtor and was the first female assistant manager at Walmart. She also worked at Famous-Barr, then Macy's.

Pansy was a great dancer, excellent oil-and-water-color painter, creative seamstress and amazing baker. Jars of "Pansy's Pickles" were coveted items. Her decorated sugar cookies were works of art. She was a long-time St. Louis Cardinals fan; and her books were her favorite possessions. She was a beautiful, vibrant, stylish woman. The thing she enjoyed the most, though, was attending her grandchildren's activities and sporting events.

Her family was her greatest joy.

She is survived by her loving children, Laura (Thomas) Hinkebein, Lisa (John) Volkerding and Eric (Renate) Faris; grandchildren, Gabriel (Annie) Hinkebein, Ashley Lindsley, Emily McElreath and John (Michelle) Volkerding; great-grandchildren, Caroline and Jackson Hinkebein, Elaina Volkerding and Fletcher Lindsley; brother, David Wilson; and sister, Barbara Redieck.

She was proceeded in death by her granddaughter, Manuela Faris.

She left knowing how much she was loved, and her family knows how much she loved them.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will follow at noon Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Dehne officiating.

A special thanks to the staff of Ratliff Care Center, especially Mary, for their care of Pansy.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 804 N. Cape Rock Drive, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.

Online condolences may be shared at www.fordandsonsfuneralhome.com.
