SCOTT CITY -- Otto Nichlous Leist, 87, of Scott City, died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 3, 1907, at Commerce, son of Lawrence Nicholas and Anna Marie Spoonhour Leist. He first married Bernice Elizabeth Lambert Aug. 25, 1928. She died March 31, 1973. He later married Ethel Breedon Aug. 11, 1973.
Leist was a retired bridge tender with Cotton Belt Railroad. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Nick Leist of Jackson; a daughter, Peggy Raines of Scott City; three stepdaughters, Erma Werner, Alma Harbison and Barbara Boyland, all of St. Louis; a brother, August Leist of Scott City; a sister, Anna Garrison of Scott City; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and nine stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter and four brothers.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Scott City after 3 p.m. Sunday.
Funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, with the Rev. Pat Wissman officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery.
