JACKSON -- Otto Fluegge, 86, of Jackson died Saturday, April 23, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 27, 1907, at Tilsit, the son of Henry W. and Catherine Nagel Fluegge. On Nov. 27, 1927, he married Marie Best, who survives of the home.
He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Tilsit, but transferred his membership in 1968 to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. He is a former elder, treasurer and trustee at Immanuel Lutheran, and a former trustee at St. Paul Lutheran Church. For 35 years he worked for the Cape Girardeau County Highway Department, retiring in 1973 as highway engineer. From 1973-1976, he was superintendent for Cape Girardeau County parks. He also served on the Tilsit School Board for many years and was active in the Dart Ball Club at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Other survivors include three daughters, Melba Allen of Cape Girardeau, Dorothy Poston of Jackson, and Shirley Childers of Thebes, Ill.; three sisters, Frieda Siebert, Dora Fluegge and Ruby Aufdenberg, all of Jackson; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughters, three sisters, and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Robert Henrichs will officiate, and burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
