Funeral service for Otto D. Bess of South Kansas City was held Saturday at Muehlebach Funeral Chapel in Kansas City. Pastor Robert L. Cox officiated, with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery in Kansas City.
Bess, 76, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, in Kansas City.
A native of Cape Girardeau, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired as plant foreman from Phil-Jacobs Garment Co., where he worked 29 years.
He was the first national president of the 9th and 10th Calvary Association. He had also been a leader of Cub Scout Pack 92.
Survivors include a son, Robert Bess of Kansas City; four brothers, Otis Bess of San Francisco, Calif., Willis Bess of St. Louis, Warren Sherwood of New Jersey, Donald Sherwood of Cape Girardeau, and four grandchildren.
His wife, Marguerite Violet, died in 1994.
