JACKSON -- Otto Christian Peetz, 77, of Jackson, formerly of Gordonville, died Saturday, Nov. 9, 1996.
He was born Aug. 12, 1919 in Tilsit, the son of Ferdinand and Amelia Peetz.
He married Lawana Farrow on June 7, 1946. She preceded him in death on June 14, 1989. Two brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
He is survived by one son, Dennis Peetz from Melbourne, Fla., and one daughter, Loita Quatmann from Jackson.
He worked as a mechanic for various equipment companies, including Heuer & Son Implement Co., and Potashnic, both in Cape Girardeau, and Kasten Masonary in Jackson. He retired in 1994.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. James United Church of Christ near Tilsit and as a lifelong active member, served as Sunday School superintendent and church council president for a number of years. He also served on other council offices including the church cemetery committee. He served on the United Retreat Center Board and was an American Legion Post #158 member. He was also a volunteer at Jackson Senior Citizen Nutrition Center.
Friends may call at St. James United Church of Christ in Tilsit on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. James United Church of Christ with Rev. James Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at St. James United Church of Christ. The American Legion Honor Guard Service will be at the cemetery.
