JACKSON -- Otis M. Orrell, 77, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 31, 1920, at Jackson, son of Willis L. and Leona M. Slinkard Orrell.
He married Edna "Marie" Conley on April 18, 1938. She survives.
He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 158 in Jackson. He owned and operated Otis Orrell's Gravel and Sand Hauling and was a school bus drive for the Jackson School District from 1953-1972. He worked at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill and Lenco Inc. of Jackson for a number of years. He also had a newspaper delivery route for the Southeast Missourian from 1980 to 1993, when he retired.
Also surviving are a son, Willis Orrell of Jackson; two daughters, Glenda Williams of Marble Hill and Martha Schreiner of Jackson; a sister, Betty Brown of Jackson; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, brother and sister.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with an honor guard service at 7:30. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Epps officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
