ANNA, Ill. -- Otis Carl Dirden, 87, of Anna died Monday, March 20, 2006, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.
He was born May 18, 1918, in Saratoga, Ill., son of Henry and Lillie Grammer Dirden. He and Marjorie Camden were married Nov. 2, 1947, in Piggott, Ark. She died April 18, 1987.
Dirden was employed many years at Transcraft Corp. He was a life member of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Cobden American Legion Post 259, and was voted Veteran of the Year in 1999 by VFW Post 3455.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Jim Dirden of Dongola, Ill.; a daughter, Joan Mixen of Anna; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, four brothers, a sister, two half brothers and two half sisters.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will be in Anna City Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Post 3455.
