PERRYVILLE, Mo. — Oswin W. "Osie" Jokerst, 85, of Perryville died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 4, 1923, at Zell, Mo., son of Valentine Nicholas and Emma Ludwein Huck Jokerst. He and Patsie R. Wood were married June 6, 1953.
Jokerst was a retired automobile mechanic. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church at Brewer, Mo., and its Holy Name Society, American Legion Post 133 and Ste. Genevieve VFW Post 2210.
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald and Kevin Jokerst of Perryville, Nicholas Jokerst of Ste. Genevieve; three daughters, Carolyn Brandon and Kris Niccum of Perryville, Cheryl Winschel of Biehle, Mo.; three brothers, Victor, Jonas and Flavian Jokerst, all of Ste. Genevieve; two sisters, Bernice Baumann and Erlyn Wehner of Ste. Genevieve; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time Friday at Christ the Savior Church. The parish wake will be at 6 p.m. today, followed by the VFW wake at 7 and American Legion wake at 7:15.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Bill Rhinehart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites provided by VFW Post 2210.
