CHAFFEE -- Funeral Mass for Oscar Charles Griffin of Chaffee will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The Rev. Ralph J. Duffner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:45.
Griffin, 78, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 12, 1920, at Chaffee, son of Charles Vincent and Igenia Theresa Strack Griffin. He and Vera Marie Dannenmueller were married Nov. 28, 1951.
Griffin owned and operated Griffin Well Drilling. He was a member of St. Ambrose Church, St. Ambrose Men's Club, and Missouri Water Well Association.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bill, Glen and Joe Griffin of Chaffee; two daughters, Marilyn Horman of Chaffee, Delores Walker of Perkins; a brother, Paul Griffin of Chaffee; six sisters, Cecilia Hindman, Pauline Asmus and Shirley Griffin of Chaffee, Genavive Griffin of St. Louis, Mary Stevens of Hazelwood, Helen Knudson of Doniphan; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
