MOUNDS, Ill. -- Oscar D. Niestrath, 87, of the America Community died Monday, Aug. 16, 1999, at his home.

He was born April 30, 1912, in the America Community, the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth Leidigh Niestrath. He married Glenna Pat Dunn on Aug. 4, 1938. She survives.

He was a member of the Riverman Association, the Sons and Daughters of Reflector, the Boilermakers Local #363. He worked on the Ste. Genevieve and C.B. Harris dredge boats. He also worked construction and was a lifetime farmer and boilermaker.

He also collected steamboat whistles.

He also is survived by a son, Nick Niestrath of America; a daughter, Kathy Sigman of America; two sisters, Minnie Clancy of Villa Ridge and Eva Tobias of Paducah, Ky.; a brother, Herman Niestrath of Long Beach, Calif. a granddaughter, a great-grandson and a great-granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Brent Gordon officiating.

Burial will be at Green Lawn Memorial Gardens in Villa Ridge.
